Jesus Is the Same!

December 25, 2007

John 3:16 (NIV) states - 16"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,
[a] that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
God loves us so much that He sent His Son to die for us. Jesus took our place on the cross that we might have eternal life through Christ Jesus.

Genesis 12

The Call of Abram

There is nothing we can do to obtain God’s unmerited favor in our life. Abram was in the fields taking care of his flocks when God spoke to him. He was an idol worshiper, but when he heard the voice of God he recognized the voice of God. God called him to leave his family and friends to go to a place that he had never seen, but was called to go, and he went.

God told him that He would bless him and through him all nations of the earth would be blessed.
Abram recognized the voice of God, and did what God told him to do.

Hebrews 13:8
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forevermore.

He Is Unchanging
We serve the same God of Abram, He is unchanging. He will do what he promises. In Genesis 22:1 Abraham was tested, when he was asked to offer his son as a sacrifice. Gen: 2 “Then God said, "Take your son, your only son, Isaac, whom you love, and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains I will tell you about." 3 Early the next morning Abraham got up and saddled his donkey. He took with him two of his servants and his son Isaac. When he had cut enough wood for the burnt offering, he set out for the place God had told him about.”

Abraham was obedient to God even if it meant to give up his son that he waited years for, but Abraham had a relationship with God and trusted Him to do what He promised, that through him all nations of the earth would be blessed.

He Cannot Lie
God promise that Abraham would be the father of all nation, and Abraham knew that he needed a seed in order to be the father of all nations. If you plant nothing you will reap nothing. Gen 22:6 “Abraham took the wood for the burnt offering and placed it on his son Isaac, and he himself carried the fire and the knife. As the two of them went on together, Isaac spoke up and said to his father Abraham, "Father?" "Yes, my son?" Abraham replied. "The fire and wood are here," Isaac said, "but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?" 8 Abraham answered, "God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son." And the two of them went on together. 9 When they reached the place God had told him about, Abraham built an altar there and arranged the wood on it. He bound his son Isaac and laid him on the altar, on top of the wood. 10 Then he reached out his hand and took the knife to slay his son. 11 But the angel of the LORD called out to him from heaven, "Abraham! Abraham!" "Here I am," he replied.
12 "Do not lay a hand on the boy," he said. "Do not do anything to him. Now I know that you fear God, because you have not withheld from me your son, your only son." 13 Abraham looked up and there in a thicket he saw a ram [a] caught by its horns. He went over and took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering instead of his son. 14 So Abraham called that place The LORD Will Provide. And to this day it is said, "On the mountain of the LORD it will be provided." 15 The angel of the LORD called to Abraham from heaven a second time 16 and said, "I swear by myself, declares the LORD, that because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son, 17 I will surely bless you and make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as the sand on the seashore. Your descendants will take possession of the cities of their enemies, 18 and through your offspring [b] all nations on earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed me."
God is the same God, yesterday, today, and forever. He cannot lie, what he promise he will do. He will do what He promised, just trust Him. The promises of Abraham are ours; all we have to do is trust in the living God.
Our Savoir
Over two thousand years ago, God sent His only begotten Son to die in our place. Abraham gave his son the wood to carry up the hill to be used as an alter on which he would offer him as a sacrifice. Jesus came to earth to be the ultimate sacrifice. The cross was place on Him, and He carried the cross up the hill and laid on cross and gave Himself as a ransom for our sin. Jesus was the Ram in the thicket! He took our place; He willing laded down His life for us, because He loves us.

Recognized the Voice of God
Whose voice are you listening to? Will you recognize the voice God? Will you say yes to God who is our Jehovah Jireh?
Noah recognized the voice and saved his family!
What are you trusting God for? He said in Isaiah 1:“19 If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:
There are times when we forget that He is unchanging, He cannot lie, He is the God of yesterday, today, and forever, and he dose not change, and whatever He promised He will do. The word of the Lord is yes and amen. Hold to your faith, trust in the living God. He is our Savior, our Healer, our Deliverer, our Provider, our Rock, He is whatever we need, and all we have to do is called on Him. Jesus is only a prayer away.

God bless you.
Yours in Christ,
Carol
